I moved to Dryden about 2 years ago from an apartment on the 10th floor a huge building in NYC. With the purchase of my first home, I have gone from being the caretaker of a few cacti in the window to several perennial beds ranging from full-sun to full-shade. As I was simply trying to maintain the gardens last summer, I realized there are several things I don't like about them, so I am hoping to rework them to suite my fancy this summer -- and facing quite a learning curve in the process! For example, I have learned that plants can get really expensive and gardening messes up your cuticles. I hope to keep a blog here to help me organize my thoughts and to get feedback from the locals who know what they are doing!

In addition to being a beginning gardener, I have pet turtles, fish, frogs, and dogs, and I am a vet student. Not a lot of time or money for this new hobby, but I can't seem to keep myself away from it.
