About Ithaca Garden Network
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Ithaca Garden Network ?
It is a social network for Ithacan gardeners, with a focus on native plants.
I found a bug. What should I do?
By all means please let David know, and he will fix it as soon as possible. Suggestions are welcome, and they will be evaluated and implemented according to feasibility. Basically this site is like a garden David can work on in the winter and evenings, so there may be some dust here and there. That doesn't mean nobody's home.
Who made this website?
David Furber did. He lives on South Hill, in a little yellow house on Crescent Place. Sometimes he takes features he develops here and uses them in paid client projects for Gorges Web Sites. Oh how gardening is like web design.
Who sponsors it?
No one. There is no financial backing here, and no commercial or academic sponsorship. The Plantsmen banner in the header is there because I want to promote Dan Segal's nursery. He got me into gardening. I enjoy talking with him (and his associates) whenever I stop by the nursery, and hence the banner. If you're doing something good for gardening in Ithaca and you'd like a banner, please let David know.
Likewise there is no "Ithaca Garden Club" type organization behind this website. If it takes off maybe we can start one?
If I contribute content to this web site, whose is it?
Yours. Subject to the caveats that apply everywhere you put your stuff out on the Web. If you say something good, people might copy you. If you put up a great photo, you might later see it elsewhere on the web. While we don't encourage it, and certainly don't engage in it, we can't guarantee that it won't happen.
If you see something on this site that is yours and doesn't belong here, please let David know. Please consider that nobody is making money on it, and the purpose is to further sustainable gardening and landscaping in Ithaca.
